Custom Shepherd's Crooks (Market Sticks)

The handles of these trial crooks are made of Myrtlewood from the coast of Oregon. Myrtlewood has wonderful chatoyancy (an irridescent or "hologram" quality) and are finished with many coats of polyurethane. The handles are hand-carved and finished and the stick portion is hand-tapered. Technically, the shape and quality of these crooks is what is known as a "market stick" or the stick farmers would take with them to the livestock market when they wanted to look their best.

2005 National Finals Trophy Crooks

These are the same quality crooks I made for the 2005 USBCHA National Finals trophies and make great gifts, trialing crooks, or decorations. I can build these sticks to your specifications including:
  • Length
  • Handle size (small, regular, or extra large)
  • Thread Color(s) (the wraps at the connection between the stick and the handle)
  • Stick material and staining
  • Inscription (anything within a reasonable length and size)
These sticks cost $125 including shipping. Depending on my schedule they take from 2-4 weeks to complete. Contact Glenn Firchow at glenn@firchow.com.
